Over the past week we’ve welcomed our new Society and Space cohort into the School of Geographical Sciences – an exciting mix of people from a wise range of backgrounds, including geography, sociology, English literature, maths, engineering, and architecture! Many of our new students have worked for some years since taking their undergraduate degrees in diverse contexts including NGOs, schools, graphic design companies, activist collectives and food growing cooperatives. Others have come directly from their first degrees. We also welcome students from Germany, Italy and India as well as the UK.
Here you can see us enjoying a meal to mark the beginning of term at the Mexican restaurant Wahaca.
Also welcoming back our four part-time students from last year we have a total of 18 students this year, making up part of the community of 70 taught postgraduate students in Geographical Sciences – the biggest year ever!
Welcome to all the new students, we hope they will have a rich experience in their time here in the School and look forward to having new members on the editorial team soon.
